Overall objective

Since 2000, the Artem workshops have been set up, real laboratories of ideas, crossroads of exchanges, where the students of the three schools of the Artem Alliance (National School of Art and Design of Nancy, ICN Business School and Mines Nancy) learn to work together and listen to their differences.
An Artem workshop offers students from the 3 schools of the Artem Alliance a pedagogy centered on a cross-cutting theme that allows students to open up to the culture, knowledge and skills of other schools.
ARTEM workshops offer real cross-functionality to students:
- Can be followed without prerequisites for the student
- Allows the student to get out of his frame of reference
- Includes elements relating to the themes of each of the schools: engineering, business/management; art/design
- Responds to one of the 6 themes covered by the Artem2030 program
- Provides professional knowledge and skills
- Promotes creativity / initiative / autonomy / commitment
- Is an opportunity for students to acquire or implement a project management method
- Instigates and/or brings out projects offering potential for development (in particular business creation)

Course content and organisation

Each workshop occupies the day of Friday for a semester and a half (22 Friday).
The themes of the workshops are varied and evolving (sustainable development, interactive media, conception and design, financial modelling, etc.) and respond to the challenges of ARTEM 2030:

o Sustainable materials and use of natural resources
o Arts, culture and society
o Sustainable and responsible economies
o Information and communication technologies and digitization
o Environments and facilities
o Care and well-being

The workshops are open to companies which second speakers, propose themes or projects for the students.
Some projects have won prizes in entrepreneurship competitions and have generated business creations. They give students a unique opportunity in France to access nearly 180 hours of unique training in cross-functionality and teamwork.
Also spaces of exchange between the teachers of the three Schools who develop with the students original problems of Research and Creation, the workshops are places of production, maturation of new problems of research or experimentation which can be in connection with the economic world, the territory, the challenges of transitions (environmental, health, digital, etc.).
