Program and contents :

This module deals with industrial management such as it is developed nowadays under the general and fashionable term of «Supply Chain Management». General problems of internal and external logistics, are examined with new means of communication, rules and contracts between the various partners. The software supports which allow communication between the various groups of a company or between several companies are known under the term of E.R.P. («Enterprise Resource Planning»), in which A.P.S. («Advanced Production System») provides some decision making tools, more application specific.

The course considers both historical knowledge on the subject and future potential developments. It starts by showing how, when facing very complex and stochastic problems, it is absolutely necessary to adopt a hierarchical approach. All the levels of the hierarchy are considered and the arising problems are solved using techniques emphasized in previous courses in this major (nevertheless the totality of the contents remain understandable for the students from other majors). The long-term decisions deal with the evolution of production equipment, including financial and technical aspects. The mediumterm planning problems concern flow management (push, pull and mixed systems). The scheduling and transportation optimization problems are met in very diverse fields and under very diverse forms. They need very efficient  approximation methods to be able to solve problems rapidly. Industrial testimonies are used to illustrate the course content.

- tactical decisions for medium term problems (push and pull systems, just in time approaches, CAM tools)

- operational decisions for the short and the very short term (predictive scheduling and reactive control, tools on the market and tools to be designed)

- industrial testimonies on various tools for specifications, quality approach, etc.
