Objective : Give an overview of water and waste treatment


Educational objectives :
Waste and water treatment has become a major social and industrial issue. The goal of this course is to give a global overview of this topic and to detail, on one hand the regulations as well as the role state organisms play and, on the other hand, the existing treatment methods. To this end we will rely on the course from the I2E major. Examples will be given by speakers exterior to the school.

    • Water resource ; water quality and aquatic ecosystems
    • The water market, regulations, Water agencies' role
    • Drinking water supply, making water drinkable : technologies employed
    • Reprocessing industrial waste water : technologies employed and visit of a sewage treatment plant
  • Waste treatment and recycling
    • Global overview of the impact of waste on the environment in France and in the world
    • Different types of waste and regulations
    • Waste treatment and recycling industries, idea of secondary raw materials and examples of dedicated sectors
    • Case-study of industrial waste incineration
    • Burying, stocking and soil remediation
    • Example of matter and energy valuation
